With so many exciting things happening for Cold Hard Fash this past weekend, I was looking forward to wrap it all up in a pretty little bow with my attendance of the Pose ‘n’ Post Sympsium hosted by the impeccable musical artist Chrisette Michele.
Everything about the evening exceeded my expectations. The setting was adorbs…adorned with the glow of pink throughout — Chrisette’s favorite color. Even the sweet treats were presented with glam and sophistication!
The second Chrisette stepped on stage to greet us, I knew that this would be a night to remember. Not only because I was in the presence of one of my FAVORITE singers of my lifetime, but because of the subjects at hand…Social Media Marketing and Building Your Brand!
As a budding entrepreneur, I’ve been to and watched many panel discussions on both. Although all of them have provided me with helpful tidbits, this event reached a much deeper place because I was surrounded by a sea of beautiful, positively spirited women who shared similar dreams of creativity and purpose as I have. And of course, there was the panel that Chrisette formed to lead the discussion: Courtney Adeleye (Founder & Owner of The Mane Choice Hair Solution), Ambrosia “Brosiaa” Malbrough (Vlogger, Jeweler, and Fabulously Gorgeous. Period.), and Atlanta’s own Fash of Lover4Fashion.com. I enjoyed the entire panels transparency in building and maintaining successful businesses through the social media.
I found it interesting how, in many ways, I could easily connect with their stories of the good and tough times “behind the brand.” It is often most challenging as an entrepreneur because our vision is often not respected or celebrated as we may expect. A jewel of wisdom that I took from the discussion is that despite the challenges, its important to stay consistent, authentic, and sincere in branding yourself, your service, and/or your product.
You can’t apologize for being valuable. -Chrisette Michele
The evening was unforgettable and inspiring!! Plus, I was able to make some new friends along the way…
My Style Deets for the Evening
For the most part I kept it simple for this affair. Very light makeup, a flowy blouse I found at Target (hours before), my one of my fave skirts from The Limited, and my go-to strappy neutral-toned sandal by Jessica Simpson (Eugenias in Tan). To spice it up a bit I added this necklace and clutch, both currently available at Aldo.
If you have the pleasure of being in a city that will be on Chrisette’s next stops…YOU MUST GO!!! I promise you will not regret it!
Special Thank You to Chrisette for bringing together an event that provided much needed inspiration and of course sharing her God-given gift…
