It shocks many of my friends to find that I am not an avid collector of shoes. In fact, the minimalism of my overall wardrobe is a bit unorthodox when you factor in how much I enjoy fashion. Honestly, I think it’s rather ridiculous to own several hundreds of pairs of shoes (I can’t believe I’m admitting that).
Despite this small hiccup, there are some shoes that I covet, dream about, and have fallen in love with from the first moment I laid eyes on them. Recently, more of these shoes have been inspired by IG posts and celebrity photos that I’ve come across on one of my many style hunts:
For me, Christian Loubotin‘s lost their luster the moment that they began to be referred to as “red bottoms”. It’s a matter of respect, or lack there of, but let’s save that for another day and post. Admittedly, since the moment that I spotted this photo of songstress, Tamar Braxton, I haven’t been able to shake these puuuurrrrty red pumps from my mind.
Formally known as the Pigalle 120 Spiked Patent Leather Pump, these gorgeous Gifts to the Gams are at the top of my wish list. I must mention they are currently available at Saks Fifth in the IT color of the season – oxblood red (see below).
Either shade is perfect for any wardrobe, be it casual or evening. That’s why I love them.
Next up, THE BOOT
Does not matter to me whether it’s a bootie, biker, or rider – I want them ALL! Ok. Maybe not Uggs.
At first glimpse of the Vince Camuto Fall 2013 Ad Campaign…I stopped breathing. SERIOUSLY.
My personal favorite of the collection is the gorgeous over-the-knee rider found to the far right, in black – see below. This whole collection is eye-catching and classic. Gold accents are major this season in footwear and Vince’s designs are a prime example of how to execute this trend right!
Of course, as a resident of the Sunshine State our Fall season takes a while to kick into full gear, so I must include the jaw-dropping, ever-so-amazingly sexy design from Alejandra G. Spring/Summer 2013 collection. We (the shoe and I) first met through this post by the assistant to hip-hop heart throb “The Game”, known as Leaux Steez – pronounced Lo-Steez (IG tag @leauxsteez). Side Note: She is a must-follow her shoe game is Certified!
One thing that I do respect is the details! Miss Alejandra did all of that and more in this shoe. I’ve always had a weakness for weaving and bright colors, and this shoe has it all. Here is another rendition of this same shoe that I adore!
Floral is one of those timeless trends that I can’t get enough of. Whether it’s in a blazer, slacks or shoes, it’s a staple in my wardrobe from season-to-season. I would pair these shoes with a pair of skinny denim and crisp white blouse accessorized with a gold pendant necklace & pearl studs.
Sometimes, it’s best to let the shoe tell the story.
Now for the bonus: Fellas, don’t even think I forgot about you…
ULTIMATE GENTLEMAN’S SHOE: THE SADDLE SHOE
In love, my man must always match my fly…and I his! It’s as important to me as communication. Which is why I felt it important to include this bonus mention for the dapper gentlemen. The Saddle Shoe is no newbie to the shoe game. In fact, it’s one of the originators. It defines a gentleman’s style intellect.
We encourage our Instagram followers to tag #ColdHardFash to their style posts and I cannot count the number of exceptionally groomed men that tag their looks, which almost always includes a well shined pair of saddle shoes. These two gentleman, @photopixelist and @asloope, are great supporters of our movement and have recently tagged these Cole Haan designs:
Cole Haan is a master of design when it comes to footwear. I am a huge fan across the board. When it comes to saddle shoes, he’s absolutely killing the game (women’s designs included). Now, when I say that a man must match his woman’s fly – vice versa – the below Cole Haan’s paired with the Louboutin’s I mentioned above accurately makes my point, don’t you think?
Now, what’s your shoe story? I want the shoe, the whole shoe, and nothing but the shoe…so help you! Feel free to comment and share links & photos below.
Until next time.
