Fashion Week Kicks Off in Paris…

Gents,

I usually don’t get too caught up in the hype of all of the fashion weeks but…ehhhhhh, who am I kidding!! Fashion week is one of the most exhilarating times of year for us “Fashioneurs”. It’s a way to see how well ahead we are on the trends, what new collections/designers are debuting, and just an all-out party!

Now, it is true that what’s on the runway often times is not practical for everyday wear, but we can get insight as to the direction of the designer and the collections.

This time of year is like Christmas for fashion lovers. Why? I’m glad you ask.

In Europe, there are 3 major fashion week celebrations in January:

Below are some of my faves from the shows that have already taken place in Paris.

Be on the lookout for the short sleeved blazer this year. Sort of a permanent Miami vice type of vibe. Oh and not the details on the inverted lapel!! #ohjoy!

The above are backstage photos of the Dior Men’s Show. Dior rarely comes to the stage with pieces that aren’t wearable. It seems that Artistic Director Raf Simons is staying true to the mid-century modern designs for which the Dior brand is known.

Alber Elbaz’s affinity for “poetic soul”-the term that Voguepedia has given to the Creative Director of the incomparable fashion house of Lanvin – definitely is expressed in this season’s show. And just when you thought Euro fashion couldn’t get more retro. #loveit!

I’ve always been a fan of Kanye’s eye! I think he has to trust himself more and be confident of his audience. His core LOVES HIM! This collection is 100% ready to wear and as a fan of hip hop and urban culture, which is his global audience, that’s incredibly appealing! I mean c’mon, what urban fit doesn’t look great with the #classic wheat Tims!! #standingO for Kanye and A.P.C..

And lastly, but definitely not least are the folks at Y-3! They never disappoint on delivering their patented “sport-style”. This was the brand’s first showing at Men’s Fashion Week but I hear that no one would know by the reaction to the show! P.S. – the Y-3 Store in the Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas is…well, it just IS!!!

Other collections/designers that I’m aching to see are:

Gents,

Stay tuned as I geek over the rest of the month!!!
